LOW COST GROUP HOLIDAYS - GREAT FUN FOR EVERYONE

Weekends away and Holidays
Every year since its formation, Brentwood Gingerbread has organised camping holidays. We started humbly with quite      basic camping equipment, but nowadays although we still search out the quieter campsites we prefer to take everything  including the kitchen sink. The only mod con. we shun is the portable tv as we prefer to make our own entertainment.

Although some families prefer to do their own thing while on holiday, there’s always another family or two making plans. Everyone is welcome to join in whatever appeals to them which means that the children are always fully occupied and the adults can get on with the really important things like stilt walking, falling off chairs and setting fire to the campsite!

We now have an array of different holidays to choose from including Youth Hostels, Camping Barns, Residential Weekends, Medieval Camping and now Wooden Wigwams. If anyone would like to organise a Barge trip, Pod camp or a Mongolian Yurt holiday then please do as we don’t want to get stale do we.

Support and friendship

We have all become, or chosen to be, one parent families but we have not all arrived here by the same path. That means that between us we have a wealth of accumulated knowledge from first hand experience which we are happy to pass on to new members who need advice or a hand of friendship. Although none of us are trained counsellors we are friendly and caring, and you' ll find there ís always someone to listen and give a word of advice if thatís what you want. If you prefer to keep your personal life to yourself then thatís fine too. We have all found that friendship and laughter are a wonderful combination and we have plenty of both.Support and friendship

Brentwood Gingerbread Blog

Our current membership has families from Brentwood, Basildon, Billericay, Grays, Purfleet, Dagenham, Dovercourt, Chelmsford, Hornchurch, Braintree, Harlow, Harold Hill, Ongar, Herongate, Harlow, ...this is getting boring now, but you get the picture.

Some of our members are also members of other single parent groups such as Havering Gingerbread and the online group singleparentfun, and we are also in the process of trying to establish links with other Gingerbread groups on our borders and over the water in Kent.

This is possible because although our distant members are too far from our weekly regular meets they often join us on our residential weekends instead.
